In January 2010 BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, approached Jigsaw to develop an iPhone application to launch around The World Cup. The app brings the BBC’s unique take on sport in general, and football in particular, to a global audience. Jigsaw worked closely with BBC Worldwide and BBC Public Services to aggregate a number of different content feeds making the app available in16 territories around the world.
The app brought users the latest news from The World Cup, together with match and tournament updates as matches were being played. Later in the year, when the new football season gets underway, the scope of the app will be extended to provide news and commentary on the English, Scottish, French, German Italian and Spanish football leagues.
